A Basic Descriptive Study of the Retired A.F.N.A Graduates¡¯ Working Area in Civilian Society

Abstract
Purpose : The purpose of this study is to identify where the AFNA alumni have been worked after they were discharged from the military service and how they utilized their competencies in society.

Methods : Among the 2,021 AFNA alumni from 11th to 40th year alumni, 1,435 alumni received the questionnaire via e-mail or mail. The data from 397 data were analyzed.

Results : 74.8% of the subjects were working in the civilian sector. Among the various working positions, school health related positions took the largest proportion by 34.7%, which was followed by jobs in hospitals 19.2%. From their retirement to present, 324 answered they had from one to four job experiences. Their job positions were 585: hospital related positions took the largest proportion by 32.3%, which was followed by positions in school health 25.1%, public health, education including university faculty and others. 42.1% of the subjects got other jobs within one year, so we can consider that they re-entered in civilian working area.

Conclusion : The research shows that the AFNA alumni are distinguished professional who can serve well in various civilian sectors.
